MILWAUKEE (April 19, 2023) – Marcus Performing Arts Center (MPAC) is presenting a weeklong residency with Nrityagram, a renowned Indian dance company who is dedicated to bringing Odissi – one of the oldest dance styles in the world – to audiences worldwide. Led by Artistic Director Surupa Sen, their traditional practice is infused with a bright, contemporary spirit, which has captured the imagination of people around the globe.

The multi-day engagement focusing on the art of classical Indian dance will feature artists from Nrityagram leading community workshops, a lecture/demonstration, a student matinee performance for over 1,500 area youth, and a public performance with a post-show talkback.

One of the premier Indian dance ensembles performing today, the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble (pronounced NRI-thyuh-graam) has been teaching and performing for over 25 years. More than a dance company, Nrityagram was founded as a Gurukula (school) devoted to Indian dance. The all-female ensemble’s daily life of intensive training and meditation brings to the stage compelling, captivating performances that are expressive and lyrical.

MILWAUKEE (May 17, 2023) – Downtown Milwaukee will welcome a new immersive public art installation to the Marcus Performing Arts Center Outdoor Grounds in July 2023 with the return of Rainbow Summer: HIGHLIGHT featuring Evanescent. Marcus Performing Arts Center (MPAC) and Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 are partnering to bring the internationally touring installation “Evanescent” by Atelier Sisu to the MPAC Outdoor Grounds for one week only, July 18 – 22, along with five nights of free public performances.

Capitalizing on the success of “Lightfield” by HYBYCOZO, presented by Johnson Financial Group, that transformed Cathedral Square Park into an immersive public art installation, “Evanescent” by Atelier Sisu will feature larger-than-life “art-chitecture” (the intersection of art and architecture).

As part of Rainbow Summer: HIGHLIGHT featuring Evanescent, each night will feature a free public performance with live music from local and regional artists, vendor markets, food trucks, activities, and more. Performances are scheduled to begin at 7:00pm nightly, with a special Family Night planned for Saturday, July 22 that will begin at 6:00pm. Additional details on artists performing at Rainbow Summer: HIGHLIGHT featuring Evanescent will be released in the coming weeks.

MILWAUKEE (June 6, 2023) – The Marcus Performing Arts Center (MPAC) Board of Directors announced today that seasoned performing arts leader, Kevin Giglinto, will be the next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization. Giglinto brings more than 25 years of leadership experience with two of the world’s most prominent performing arts organizations to the role of MPAC President & CEO. Giglinto will join MPAC in late July.

“Kevin joins a strong, established leadership team to continue building on MPAC’s vision within the community,” said Ray Wilson, Marcus Performing Arts Center Board Chair. “He is a passionate, strategic leader whose experience connecting diverse audiences and building an organization’s brand prominence is an ideal fit for advancing the MPAC mission and strategic goals.”

With personal and professional ties to Milwaukee and the Midwest as a Marquette University alum and long-time Chicago resident, Giglinto most recently served at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Chief Strategy Officer.
