After graduation, I started working at Dave’s as a full time Luthier and after six years at Dave’s La Crosse, I moved back to my hometown to open the Milwaukee location. Now, nearly 10 years at DGS, I mainly handle vintage appraisals and any restoration work that comes through as well as the day-to-day operations of the store. I love to talk vintage guitars and models people have forgotten about and you can usually find something interesting on my bench any day of the week.

Hello there! My name is Ed Muzia, and I’ve worked for Dave’s Guitar Shop for about 4 years now. After completing my schooling at Galloup School of Lutherie, I apprenticed under a local luthier in Milwaukee for about 2 years. Once Dave’s Guitar Shop started gaining some traction in Milwaukee, my boss suggested trying to get a job alongside Phil as a repair tech. One phone interview and one bench test later, I had the job at Dave’s. Learning new things alongside Phil has been an invaluable experience, and I’m honored to be part of the Dave’s Guitar Shop family.

When I started playing guitar, I had no interest in music whatsoever. My mother told me, “Son, if you’re not going to play sports, you’re definitely not going to play video games all summer.” That was nearly 20 years ago, and now it’s the driving force of my life. I’m privileged to work for a legendary guitar store, teach guitar on the side, and regularly gig in the Milwaukee area. I guess you can say I’m living the dream, so thanks, Mom.

I called at about 5:45 p.m. and they close at 6, I was in dire need of getting my electronic drum fixed. As I have read previous reviews they had stayed open late for other customers, so i figured I'd give it a shot. Long story short, he said come on in. He had me all fixed up ready to go in less than 5 minutes. A++++++ not to many stand up businesses around anymore, but I would recommend them all day long. And that was my first time in the shop. 4worldlovers: Denny Rauen is a master luthier and considered to be one of the finest in the world. He's been building, restoring, repairing and modifying string instruments for over 40 years.

Since 1982, Rauen Guitars has been serving a variety of clients, including top musicians, enthusiasts, and collectors from around the world. Currently, Denny is continuing his craft but downsizing his workload.

In 1981 as a 28 year old rookie, Denny had the good fortune to hang out and chat with the legendary Leo Fender and discuss his Multi-Radius (compound-radius) innovation.

Denny is the person behind inventing the compound radius fretboard, which provides guitar players with great mobility for string bending. It was in 1978 when this idea came to light and later shared for the entire luthier community to use. Before he invented this fretboard for guitar, nobody used a conical-shaped fingerboard to help in bending notes.
