Rock 101 is one of School of Rock Shorewood's top programs for kids and beginners. Students have one weekly group rehearsal where they learn to play classic rock songs that have been simplified for beginner musicians. Additionally, Rock 101 students in Shorewood have a weekly private music lesson with an instructor who helps them learn the concepts and skills behind their performance songs.


Our music programs for kids in Milwaukee are designed to get students on stage performing, with the goal of building strong musical proficiency. Younger students at School of Rock Shorewood who have participated in the Rookies program can move to our Rock 101 music program once they’re ready. Additionally, students (typically ages 8 to 13-years-old) can begin Rock 101 without any prior experience. The goal of this rock program is to quickly develop a basic competence on students’ chosen instruments before moving on to our famous Performance Program.

Our experienced instructors teach adult students through popular rock songs, and teach students to play guitar in a way that’s challenging and fun. We believe the best way to learn is by doing, which is why we combine weekly private guitar lessons with group band rehearsals. At School of Rock Shorewood, we teach beginner guitar lessons for adults in our Adult Program. This program gets students performing onstage at a local Milwaukee venue.


As students gain skills and experience, we move them along to more challenging programs at higher skill levels. Intermediate and advanced students take the skills they learned in beginner guitar lessons, and layer on more difficult techniques and concepts. School of Rock Shorewood offers advanced guitar lessons for kids and adults that teach by playing challenging classic rock songs and emphasize playing the guitar in a real music venue. Morgan Evans has been singing her whole life, originally inspired at a young age by talented singers in old Hollywood films. With an affinity for music from the 30s and 40s, she has special interest in female vocal harmonies. Over the past 20 years in her singing career Morgan has studied privately with both Helen Ceci and Robin Pleur. During that time she performed professionally as a solo vocalists in jazz, classical, and musical theater as well as with a 1940s USO female vocal trio. With a background in early childhood education, Morgan is well versed in working with and understanding the needs of aspiring vocalists. She believes singing allows one to connect more deeply with themselves, opening the path to their unique style and voice.


Morgan enjoys seeing singers come into themselves as they develop skills and gain confidence. She is excited to pair her passion for music with early childhood development, as the combination instills a profound appreciation for music and the performing arts. An early start is critical for setting up a healthy practice to maintain vocal integrity and longevity.


Morgan enjoys remaining versatile and has wide appreciation for all genres. She has developed a business in the greater Milwaukee area as a DJ who provides employment to women who are seeking jobs involved in the entertainment industry.

The String Academy of Wisconsin is celebrating its 30th year! We are so incredibly proud of three decades of helping young people develop into wonderful musicians and successful citizens. Music can be such a transforming presence in one’s life. Research has emphasized how profound and important comprehensive music study is in developing a child’s cognitive abilities. It produces increased learning capacity, focus, empathy, and the ability to comfortably interact with others. Sadly today fewer schools, especially in low-income areas, can offer this opportunity to students.

Eighty children ages 4-18, from all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, study violin and viola at the String Academy of Wisconsin. SAW’s professional and dedicated artist faculty carefully guide students in a challenging course of study that includes weekly private and group instruction, classes in music theory/ear training, and numerous solo and group performances. Our comprehensive curriculum encourages and develops teamwork, problem solving, and self-confidence that benefits students in their music studies and beyond. By educating the WHOLE child, SAW offers preparation for success in school and life!


The Academy strives to make an excellent music education possible for low-income families through our acclaimed Urban Students in Arts Outreach program which includes two primary strategies for providing high quality music education and instruments to USAO students.

Scholarships and instruments to 20-25 students annually whose families could not otherwise afford music lessons.

Partnerships with Milwaukee Public Schools where a majority of students are from low-income homes. Our faculty is providing instruction to students with demonstrated potential and a strong desire to learn at Escuela Vieau, an MPS K-8 school. These students (along with other USAO recipients) also come to the Academy for weekly group instruction and performances. We have encreased our Vieau enrollment, but children still remain on the waiting list of this popular program. Providing instruction, instruments, music is costly — a minimum of $2,500 per student.

I’m an experienced and knowledgeable teacher of singing who specializes in lessons for pop, rock, and musical theater. I can teach anything about singing from a beginner learning to match pitch to a professional looking to better communicate the intention of lyrics through melody. My lessons focus on controlling the voice. For beginning students I teach the basics of support and breathing that will lead to a healthy control of not only the voice, but the whole body. As we continue I move onto learning different individual skills based upon what the students needs most. Some of the most common goals of my students that I address are learning to sing with more volume without needing a substantial amount of effort, extending the range, controlling resonance and frequencies, and eliminating habits that can get in the way of a pure voice. For my more advanced students or those looking to sing a variety of styles I teach how to alter the voice subtly such that one could sing drastically different styles with quality.

I have been teaching voice lessons in the Milwaukee area since my graduation from college in 2016, but I have been performing since 2011 throughout the United States and Europe both as a soloist and with choirs. I currently perform with the band "Mantra" which can be found on Spotify with our album "False Reality" which can be seen below, with local choirs and theaters, as a solo pop singer, and leading a worship team at "The Way" church in Greendale. Finally, I perform audiobooks for Audible through ACX where I perform and edit all audio.

I have extensive training with singing as I have been taking lessons myself since I could speak. Additionally, I have a degree in music education from Wisconsin Lutheran College, which I use to teach private singing lessons in partnership with Milwaukee Public Schools. I currently teach at 7 Milwaukee Public High Schools and Middle Schools. I teach students from 4-95 primarily in the Contemporary Commercial Music style, but I also teach Musical Theater and Classical.
