Daniel M: . On a scale of 1-100, it was 100. Here’s the story:I came to Shabahang with an unusual project: I live in a nice apartment that has bad carpeting. To tear out the carpeting, I’d have to disassemble all my furnishings and move out while they install a vinyl plank flooring that I don’t even like. I was not going to do that. Instead, I decided to buy beautiful carpeting and lay it on top of the bad carpeting.To complete the project, I needed someone to cut the new carpeting into six pieces of various sizes and bind each piece. Then I’d lay the pieces down and hopefully they’d fit together like a puzzle. In order for this plan to work, I needed the pieces cut very precisely. I did not want pieces to overlap, nor have gaps that were too large. My goal was gaps of one-quarter inch.I spoke with two carpet retailers about this work before I approached Shabahang. One simply never replied after I sent them the requirements, and the other wanted $5000 to do this work. That’s not a typo: they wanted $4000 for the raw material and then increased the price to $9000 including the cutting and binding.Shabahang charged $1150 for the cutting, binding and delivery. Not $5000. $1150. As you know, Shabahang is a high-end retailer of Persian rugs. What do they need with this odd, one-off project with the fussy customer with his extremely precise requirements? Shabahang did not even sell me the raw material, missing out on the profit from that part of the project.Let me summarize what I loved about the service I received from Shabahang:1. Incredible price.2. Incredible quality of work. My measurements were meant to be executed to within a quarter inch. The retailer who wanted $5000 to cut and bind said they had a one inch margin of error on all measurements. Behzad

They use a natural cleaning product to not harm the rug colors and are allergy free. I also purchased new rug pads for the rugs which were nice quality. The owner was very knowledgeable about different kinds of rugs, rug cleaning and pleasant to work with.Another day, we were back in their store picking up the rugs and spoke with the owner’s daughter, who was also very pleasant and provided excellent service. We inquired about a rug for a family member. The owner’s daughter was very knowledgeable and provided good information about the different options without making me feel pressured. She showed us a variety of interesting collections and designs of Persian & Oriental, Tribal, & Kilim rugs. She was resourceful looking for great colors to work with for the rest of the decor. The rugs were good quality too.The store was very clean and charming with its Architectural Design and moldings. It is conveniently located at the corner of East Silver Spring Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard in Whitefish Bay.We will definitely be a repeat customers! We may even go downtown and check out their Third Ward location.

When the staff at Orley Shabahang was done with it, it looked truly beautiful and like a very expensive heirloom! Everyone was so nice and they didn't treat me any less because I was on a budget. The only bad thing was that I found out that they have even more beautiful brand new rugs that I could have purchased for about the same amount of money my rummage sale "find" cost me! Now I think I will have to buy those too because I never saw so many beautiful rugs - and they have something for everyone regardless of your budget!
