Café Hollander - Downer: what do users think?

Betty Grascowicz: The servers are friendly and the service is fast! Four stars because the food can be hit or miss, sometimes you can tell how long its been under a warmer. Other than that, we've always had good experiences!

Vanessa Brooks: Very charming yet spunky establishment. Always enjoy sitting outside on a nice day. Went for brunch recently with family and friends. Loved that I was able to bring my dog along too. We started with the pretzel bites and cheeseacurds. I LOVE the cheeseacurds, do not skip! For my entree I tried the chicken and french toast. Lots of great flavor and nice presentation. Originally we were sat in a very uncomfortable spot where the table was slanted and our chairs felt off balance. We asked to be moved and they obliged. Our server was nice, did her job. Manager checked in to see how our meal was, felt a little forced but that how table touching goes.

Katie Jay: Great beer selection, yummy food. Claudia is an amazing server! Her timing was impeccable, she was funny and warm. Made our trip to Milwaukee memorable.

Taylor Goodale: Great food, AMAZING BEERS, Claudia is an amazing server!

Bill Prince: We loved it. Sat on the terrace watching the people and cars. We had an assortment of mixed drinks and beers, all perfect! We split the brunch short ribs and the “tater tot” appetizer. Both were wonderful.Parking: We parked under the bridge just a bit from the restaurant. We were here in earlyMay so the parking may be more challenging in the summer.

Von Trier: what do users think?

Nan Rose: night. The food was great and the service was excellent. Decor in the bar is outstanding. We wanted to show some family visiting from out of state an authentic Milwaukee bar and Von Trier helped us do that. Thank you!The reason I gave the food a four was because it came in a basket and not on a plate. Not a big deal, I know the baskets are reusable. We definitely hope to go again the next time we are in Milwaukee.

Arcadio Bolaños: For many years Von Trier has been the quintessential German bar in Milwaukee's east side. I used to live so close to it and now that I'm no longer in Wisconsin I miss it. Von Trier is, I should say, more German than many of the German bars I've visited while traveling in Germany. Tradition is important, and you can see that from wall to wall, ceiling to ceiling, you can see that in the decoration and the style. Von Trier has an impressive and large selection of beer, and I think for any fan of German beer, or just good beer in general, you'll definitely find something to stimulate your palate and placate your thirst. I visit Wisconsin once a year and I always come back here. Good memories and good beer. As it should be.

Benjamin Polony: One of the best bars in Milwaukee. Great German beer selection, warming interior, and a friendly crowd.

Kristin D: I hadn’t been here since they started serving food, so when family was visiting and wanted to go out for German, we decided to try it. The atmosphere is just as I remembered - it actually feels like you’ve stepped into an old world beer hall in Germany, with painted murals and steins lining the walls. We got there during Happy Hour, when some drinks are $6, a great value. There was just one hardworking server, and several guys behind the bar, but when we asked one about drinks he suggested we just wait for the server to come to our table. Seemed like they could have helped her out.Everybody loved the food they ordered, sausages with delicious condiments like radish slaw and caramelized onions, spaetzle and sauerkraut, and fish fry with potato pancakes. Truly some of the best German food in a very German city.Dietary restrictions: I didn’t notice any specifically gf items on the menu, but I requested a sausage without the bun, and found it to be a very satisfying meal. The server did inquire if I had Celiac or a sensitivity, showing they have an awareness of how to handle food allergies.

Burnhearts: what do users think?

Matthew Lyon: This is the best bar in Milwaukee, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. They have a rotating tap and craft cocktail list so there are always plenty of options, but you never feel out of place drinking a High Life either. Perfect combo! Staff is incredibly friendly, quick, and knowledgeable, even when the place gets busy. Can't recommend enough.

Dana Stalewski: My partner and my own favorite bar in Milwaukee. We felt welcome during on our first endeavor, and have been returning on every visit. Love the low key vibe, wonderful staff, and being able to connect with one other without distraction. 2 single bathrooms, so, if you have to pee, don’t hesitate to jump in line. I have a tiny tank. There’s tavern pizza, and it smelled good, but I already ate dinner and wasn’t to the point of second dinner!!

Andrew McCauley: We checked into a hotel upstairs, and we are looking for some food and a drink. We discovered the pub right underneath us, and we enjoyed ourselves. We wanted to test out the beer and the cheese here in Milwaukee, so we’re better way to do it then in a soup. We enjoy the pretzels and some local beers and the atmosphere was good.later at night it became a little bit more louder and if you’re looking for a good time at this pub on weekends, this is the place to go.

William Hughes: Great place to have dinner and drinks on the river. Food and beer were both really good, and the prices were good for what you get.

Amberly Marckini: Nice spot. Decent prices. Cool river side seating. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the beer.

Andy Andersen: Nice place to get a beer and sit on the river

Old German Beer Hall: what do users think?

Lindsey Peterson: I've been here with my boyfriend a couple times now. We love it! We have stopped by this bar with some friends that live close. The food was good the one time we actually ate there. And we all like to get the Underdog digestif. There is another one sold at the bar, a bit cheaper, and if you buy 4 you get the 5th one free. The bar is loud, but that is expected. It's super fun if a band is playing as well. Such a fun bar. They also have Hammerschlagenthat you can play at the back if you buy nails at the bar. Funnnnn!

Jenna Wade: . It’s street parking, which can be a pain depending on the time of day and what else is going on in the Deer District but I’ve always been able to find something.

Maia H: . Have fun and get a liter of beer.

Judy Tutles: for me!!! There is a neat paiting of old Milwaukee Mayors from when I was a little girl LOL A long time ago indeed! There is German beer options and other beer and like I said wine

Ferch's Crafthouse Grille: what do users think?

Jen Arpin: We live near Firch’s so stopped by for a Bucks game. Beer selection was amazing - lots of options served in appropriate barware. The infused option was delicious. Food was as expected for bar food; tasty, fresh, salty, crispy - so good. We had boneless wings - chicken seemed high quality and flavor options were tasty!!! Tacos and chips were also good. Best part was our bartender/server. He was attentive, knowledgeable and very nice. We will return!

Theresa Turner: The food was amazing and plentiful. We learned about their happy hour activities and I must say I would be interested in coming back.Dietary restrictions: Their gluten friendly here too!

Story Hill BKC: what do users think?

Bethany Blount: Quick Update: It's still delicious! I had more restraint than below, but I also came hungrier. They have several delightful crêpe options this season. I wish I could afford to try them all!Absolutely delish! We went for a little brunch and ended up splurging on a three course meal. I made the joke when ordering dessert that I would have to be wheeled out of the restaurant. It was all so good though that my willpower abandoned me. I would highly recommend!

Dave Dunn: Last two times I have gone here I have had bad food. Fried chicken livers way over done, and beef shank was dry and tough, variable were under cooked to he point of being raw. And last time I went somehow my bill came out to $168. I had drinks and bought cocktails mix to go, but just seemed like too much after I thought about it. Not sure if I trust restaurant manger, seemed to be playing around with the bill.

Bel: I had a delicious cup of coffee and ordered the following: Mushroom and spinach waffle. Bread pudding waffle with mushroom duxelle, broccolini, salad, feta, truffle oil, poached eggs and smoked shallot marmalade. Looks great....however, my waffle was burned and BLACK on the bottom. Also one egg was hard in the center, not poached. Not inedible, but it could have been an amazing dish if they hadn't plated the burned waffle. The accompanying salad had a very good dressing....love breakfast with some salad on the plate. Great atmosphere and service. I'll be back.

Draft & Vessel: what do users think?

Brian Rogers: This place is phenomenal! The beer selection is always changing and always out of this world! The fact that there are two cicerones who work here boggles my mind! I honestly had no idea that was a thing until I came here, and it's a big reason I keep coming back. But to top all those beautiful things off, the atmosphere here is absolutely breathtaking. It's warm, welcoming and inviting. This place calls my name every day I come home from work, and has officially become my "I need to relax spot" and soon to be my "backgammon and beers" spot! Try this place out for yourself if you don't believe me, and come to the same conclusion I did! Cheers!

Mildred Cruz: Atmosphere: 5/5

Jared Corbett: Great neighborhood spot with an extensive and ever-changing tap list. I love that they carry ALT brew beers, the best gluten-free beers in Wisco!

Company Brewing: what do users think?

Patrick John: Cool vibe with interesting lighting and a pleasant hipster vibe. The beer varieties are varied and well done. I had the Hazy IPA which was great and not overly sweet. The food was solid and I went with the butter burger and brussel sprouts. The burger was delicious. The sprouts were a tad disappointing because there was too much butter sauce on them. They would have been great other than that.Overall, this is a fun brewery worth a visit for sure.

Paul and Lillian Bruns: We came here for a few drinks and also had dinner. They have a pretty good tap list with a lot of different styles. The food was good, we had cheese curds and chili with an added grilled cheese. There was a Packers game on and they were also getting ready for a New Year's Eve event so it was pretty busy. Service was very good as we were right before an expected rush and they had a lot of people working.

Buckley's Restaurant & Bar: what do users think?

Brandon Newman: Absolutely fantastic! After a long day of traveling and an afternoon walking all around Milwaukee, I came to Buckley’s with my parents for dinner. This converted home has been turned into a fancy-casual restaurant with an exquisite atmosphere. I tried the Broccoli starter, which came with a nice miso tahini sauce that provided a unique flavor. The Buckley Burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. The meat itself was so high quality and full of flavor, and the crisp brioche bun and toppings and condiments complimented the burger perfectly. I also had the Lobster pasta and it lives up to how delicious a lobster dish has to be. Absolute class when it came to combining the lemon and tomato flavors with the lobster in a light pasta dish. My Dad also says the salmon dish he had was really good. For dessert, it was hard to choose which of Mrs. Buckley’s items to get. We got the famous carrot cake and the seasonal St. Patrick’s cheesecake. All I know is that Mrs. Buckley doesn’t miss! Both desserts were so delicious and the high quality showed once again. The service was great, too. We were never rushed even with the restaurant being packed. The waitress was very nice, answered questions, and told us a little bit about the Buckley family. On top of everything mentioned, the pricing was very good and the portions were large. Overall, this is a restaurant I trust after my first visit. You can’t go wrong with Buckley’s. 5 STARS!!!!!

Robert Whitehurst: A beautiful restaurant with excellent food. I had to sit at the bar because I did not have reservations. To be fair it was Valentine's weekend.I took an out of town guest for dinner and his initial impression was that it was very "fancy". However, after dinner he confessed that it was one of the best meals he had every eaten. He travels for business and eats in many restaurants. He proclaimed that it is certainly a hidden gem in Milwaukee and would definitely return when he is in town.

Steven: Fried artichokes, cheesecake, and carrot cake were particularly amazing! Great service & ambiance too.Prices very reasonable for this high quality of food.

R Elle: , wine and divine desserts - everything was perfect. Carlie and Taylor “had me at hello” because they were both good listeners trying to understand my goals and needs. Buckley’s is higher end and worth it! Call ahead to get a sense of parking. Just amazing & thank you!

Katie B: in the cooking and baking. I had Mahi Mahi on a bed of pasta and pesto. Delicious. Appetizer special was bread served with a delicious cheese and a cheese spread. Just O.K. All four of us enjoyed our meals. Each dish had multiple tastes that came together beautifully. We will be back. Recommend calling to get direction on parking. We heard

Melissa Mondragon: The building is beautiful! The food was perfection. From the truffle fried artichokes to the seafood risotto and the salmon to the tuxedo cheesecake. The sangria had the most delicious combination of spices. This place is for foodies! You will not be disappointed. Ask for Joe to be your waiter. He's exceptional! 10/10 would recommend this wonderful establishment to everyone!
