Sean: I bought my first bike since I was a kid here. It was a retro cruiser that they refurbished and it's been great. The staff is super knowledgeable and incredibly helpful if you need assistance with anything. I really like that it's a community workshop, I've been able to learn about bike maintenance and fix anything that's come up right there - they have all the tools you might need and plenty of spare parts. I've gotten a good few compliments on the new bike and I've always directed people here when we get talking.

James Connolly: . If you have a question, just approach the counter and let them know you have a question or need help. After about 20 minutes of looking at various bikes, I asked for help. One of the guys stopped what he was doing, instantly gave me his full attention, and very intelligently and honestly answered all my questions in a straightforward way. I mentally picked out 2 bikes, I thought would be good choices for me and then left, deciding I should do some more research and "sleep on it" before deciding which one to buy. After more research, I mentally "picked" one of these, i.e., the one from the manufacturer with the better reputation for higher quality components as between the two. Alpha Bei: I noticed cracks on my tires so wanted to get the tires replaced. The first two shops I went to both gave me a quote higher than the price I paid for my bike, which is an old mountain bike bought used. One of these two shops actually has the highest online rating in this area. I then took my bike to the Bikesmiths, a shop I’ve never been. Sam checked the tires and told me they didn’t have to be replaced; however, if I wanted to err on the side of caution, here’s how much it would cost. The quote he gave was less than half of the quotes from the other two shops.I decided to go ahead with the replacement. He listened to what I used my bike for and then recommended two types of tires. He took the time to explain to me the differences and told me which type would be better suited for my need. The shop was closing in less than half an hour but he had the tires replaced promptly. Throughout my visit, Sam was very patient, transparent about the cost, honest about his opinions, and never pressured me into buying anything. I bought a bike pump while waiting but forgot to take it after the bike was ready. Sam ran out of the store with the pump before I drove off. A very honest and unassuming neighborhood shop that I’ll definitely come back for any bike needs. Thank you, Sam and Bikesmiths!

Christina Strand: I placed an order to replace the tires and tubes for my old slightly odd Japanese road bike. The original tire size is uncommon and I'm pretty uneducated on bike, but I did my best and placed my order. Before just shipped it out they called and emailed me to make sure I didn't want two different sized tires and tubes. Turns out I still managed to get it wrong! After a very friendly conversation they hooked me up with what I needed and even saved me a few bucks. I can't stop telling everyone about this store because of their perfect example of great customer service. Cannot recommend them enough!

Gary Aschenbrenner: On Saturday Chris covered with me how to wipe off my chain with a microfiber cloth and how to lubricate it for future chain care. He measured the old chain/ to let me know it was time for a new one. Then Jonah had the drivetrain cleaned and new chain installed on Wednesday evening for me to have back on Thursday. So I also had him do my second bike that also needed a drivetrain cleaning and a new chain installed.

They recently fitted me with an adaptive device to allow for a full pedal stroke after knee surgery and also helped set up a new Garmin. The staff are pros in every sense of the word!!! Would never go anywhere else.

They don’t list the Eastside on the website any longer—and it seems like they are making the pivot to road bikes. It would be worthwhile to pick one up while they are still around.Wabi Bicycles, All City, Milwaukee Bicycle Co. and Surly might offer a better build but for over twice the price.The Eastside I bought with my stimulus check has gotten me through Uber Eats delivery—paid for itself—and now to work each day on my 2 mile commute.These are popular bikes, and you’ll see Fyxation bikes most places you go in Milwaukee.

Shoutout to Chase in service who built up my new bike and then helped me mount a rack on the back and load it into my car, no questions asked! Jacob Rindfleisch: Got a Pixel 7 from them. This is the best bike I’ve ever owned. Comfortable, easy assembly, smooth ride. It was supposed to ship August 30th but I got it on October 9th. It’s not really their fault. They were waiting on the manufacturer, it’s Covid, there’s just a shortage on all commodities right now. I emailed them twice about my order status and they responded within a few hours with an update. Fantastic shop. Fantastic customer service. Highly recommend. They deserve all of the rave reviews.

Nossy Drelich: This is an awesome place to get your bikes fixed! My niece needed her bike tires fixed as well as a headstand. Another bike place said it would be three weeks due to the virus and it would cost 70. This place did it in half an hour, and said that the bike just needed new tunes, not a whole tire, and they charged 40. Very friendly and responsive staff.
Kyle Kleinbeck: Fyxation is an excellent homegrown company that is highly supportive of MKE's bike community. The staff are extremely helpful and their branded products are also excellent quality. As a bike commuter in NYC when I lived there, a pair of fyxation's lightly treaded road tires would last me 3-4 times as long as Gatorskins for serious urban riding on dry or wet pavement. They can even handle a little bit of soft or packed snow surprisingly well.

Get there before May and avoid the krush if you're in a hurry, but they usually have a pretty quick turnaround time. Bring in a flat and walk out aired up. Even have a layaway program if you need it.
