Christy D. Washington: The Times Cinema has been a Milwaukee movie house classic since 1935! The Times has shown many of the great cinema classics over the years. The Christmas classic Its a Wonderful Life is a yearly event at the Times at Christmas. The concessions such as the buttered popcorn are very fresh and delicious. Also, check out the Rosebud Cinema Drafthouse and Avalon Atmospheric Theater which are own by the same business the Neighborhood Theater Group. The Times, Avalon, and Oriental are the only three remaining movie theaters in Milwaukee!

The Borg Cooking Show: Best movie theatre in Milwaukee.Although I can't recommend the "Nashville Hot" Chicken sandwich. It's about as Nashville as New DelhiHamburger 3.8/10Chicken tenders 8.5/10BBQ sauce ??/10 what the absolute nonsense is that sauce. No like I'm actually curious what that sauce is.

It was one of the finest and most modernly equipped motion picture houses in a residential district in the country, making it the prototype for "neighborhood" theatres at the time. It cost nearly $65,000 to build and boasted a seating capacity of 1,200. Music being an important accessory to the motion picture back then, the Downer had not only a Weickhardt pipe organ, but an orchestra as well.
In May 1990, the Downer re-opened its doors to the public after a much-needed facelift. Transformed into a twin-screener, the new Downer was bright and classic, with the auditoriums painted a cream color. The decorative molding was brought back to life with gold leafing and gaslight-type lanterns lined both auditoriums. New carpeting that resembled the original carpeting from 1915 now covers the Downer lobby and theatre floors as well as the partitions on the walls of the auditoriums. Tom O'Sullivan: If you live in mke, just go here. When you can. Great atmosphere, well curated movie selection. Cool events, wish I could go upstairs
The Deacon: Situated in a nice neighborhood, nearby restaurants and coffee shops. Inside nice and clean and employees very welcoming. Definitely good spot for a first date.

Kristine Kuesel: Nostalgic theater servicing food and drinks. The only complaint is that they've divided the theater into two screen. The movie we were watching was pretty quiet with mostly dialog. The movie in the adjoining theater was like with lots of traffic and emergency vehicles which we could hear all too well. It was distracting. Other than that, the food and service are good.

Matt Collins: Watched Shen Yun and enjoyed the show. The theatre was very nice however there were a number of people near us who needed assistance getting to their seats but no ushers stepped in to help them.
patricia limbach: A very nice venue for shows and performances. Seating is a nice size and comfortable. Well kept and maintained, with an appropriate amount of staff. Finding your seat is easy once you know the layout, however the staff was extremely helpful.Nice service area, but bar area seating was very limited to just a few tables. A large complex but fairly easy to navigate. Public parking structure about a block away but pricey.Would highly recommend this venue for a performance or show.

Michelle Perich: 1st time here, and I haven't gone to see a movie in a few years. Wow! What a lovely experience! Clean entrance with bar and seating in front of a jumbo screen to watch sports. We saw the Bob Marley biopic, which was excellent, by the way. Seating was so comfortable in reclining loveseats and chairs automatic everything. Trays next to you. You're able to order food and have it delivered to your trays so that you can eat and watch the movie. If you're not getting food, they're just taking up space, but the option is so great ? I can't wait to come back for date night without the kids. The only place comparable for me was the Rosebud, which had a similar set up for 20 years ago. It's a great experience, recommend 100%. Marcus has a winner here!!

Sirry Insy: Clean place. Getting pricey but still worth it.
Nick Woltring: Theater is nice, clean and the seats in the theater are comfy and spacious recliners. Loved the leg room in the Screen X theater. The concessions cost so much now. Main complaint is the stupid busy roundabout to get to the theater.

Leah Burg: Great little kids theater! 🎭 Very interactive and love the "talk back" afterwards. First Stage showcases all the kid's talents and promotes live theater at a young age! Really love the choices of shows they put on!
