Futen Dojo: what do users think?

Freyja Newleaf: If you're looking for a safe place to strengthen your mind, to bolster your capabilities in defending yourself, to find peace within your soul, look no further. Sensei is an absolutely stunning human with a vast wealth of knowledge in martial arts. With dedication and patience, you too can dig deep and realize your true potential.

Joe Lewis: True Japanese Martial Arts

Michael Anderson: Whether you are interested in learning self-defense, traditional Japanese martial arts and culture, a philosophy of continual self-improvement, or a hobby which could easily keep you engaged for the rest of your life, Futen Dojo should be on your list to check out. The head instructor Michael Coleman is a world-class martial artist who is passionate about teaching.

Tonia Stavedahl: Learning how to defend myself has given me a lot of peace of mind when I am out and about. I feel more aware of my surroundings and know that at least I have seen and learned techniques that will help me in the unthinkable event of an assault. This is something I had never thought about and am so thankful to have a teacher and dojo family supporting me and my personal safety. I highly recommend checking out the Futen Dojo.

Scott Baxter: Do you want to learn self-defense? Do you enjoy traditional Japanese culture? Are you looking for a teacher that respects and understands your needs? This is the place to go.

Amy Ressel: While I was in the military I had to move a lot so I changed dojos a lot. Futen is one of the best dojos I've studied at. Everyone is really kind and no one will look down on you if you are having a difficult time learning a technique.

Michael Wogoman: I found the Futen Dojo by chance while driving by and thought I would stop in. Michael Coleman, the schools head instructor, was teaching an advanced class and I was immediately impressed with not only his skill physically, but also his knowledge of the history and ‘way’ of martial arts. I signed up for class the next day. That chance encounter was nearly nine years ago and I have been going to the Futen Dojo every week since then. In that time I have had experiences that, I believe, cannot be offered anywhere else. Even with years of experience, I learn something new in every class, which will always have me coming back for more. I am very glad to be a part of the Futen Dojo family.

Their skills are impressive and their methods are not only time tested, but also very effective. The Martial Arts you learn there are no joke. They're the real deal. And the enthusiastic student will not only be able to defend themself, but grow as a person and meet some great people along the way.

Poookiiiee E: Amazing place.

Chinese Kung Fu Center: what do users think?

Karen M: I started tai chi classes in fall 2022 at the Chinese Kung Fu Center for the purpose of improving my overall health, including balance, flexibility, strength, and mental focus. I see and feel positive changes; it’s exciting and motivating to notice my growth. Sifu Jeff is an excellent instructor and respects his students. He is patient and understands that his students attend his classes for a variety of reasons. This class is for everyone and is so welcoming. I highly recommend it!

Jean Lane: Friendly people. ..love theTai Chi, very good teachers, clean

Laurie Pevnick: Small group Tai Chi excellent personal instruction, great for improving focus & reducing stress.

Julie Kamikawa: Authentic shaolin kung fu and tai chi training. One of Milwaukee's best kept secrets. Free viewing; check it out!

Jenna Letzter: Jeff is a great teacher! Great environment to learn - my coordination, balance, strength, and self-defense has greatly improved after only a few months classes. Great value as well.

Christine Leung: I have been a tai chi student here for at least four years and am enjoying every moment of it! The head instructor, Sifu Jeff, is great and tailors the classes according to the student's skill level. Not only that, he is very patient and encourages everybody to do their best in each class. I highly recommend this place!

Shecky Jersawitz: This school is the best around and offers the most effective instruction in town. There is no place that comes as close to true traditional kung fu as the Chinese Kung Fu Center. Instructors here are top notch and care about the quality of their kung fu classes. The style practiced here is Northern Shaolin and unlike other schools in the area, the instructor actually trained in person with his Sifu, Yin Chian Ho. This adds to the legitimacy and authenticity of this unparalleled kung fu academy. Other schools are mere fad schools that 'augment' their atmosphere by having caucasian instructors pretending to be Chinese to fool new and uninformed students;subsequently other instructors learn their 'kung fu' from videos and engage in form collecting. This is not the case at the Chinese Kung Fu Center where the kung fu is real, the instructors are the best in the area and the location itself is historical as it has been serving the community at its location in the same building for over 30 years. Anyone interested should come down and see the best in town for themselves. I agree 100% with others that have posted here about this school having the premiere program in town. I have seen that for myself. I recommend this school for anyone looking to improve their health, increase their self defense skills, and interested in learning kung fu.

Guy Man: I am a student at the CKFC, though I've not been there for an extremely long time and can provide a non-biased view.Potential students may be discouraged at first because the head instructor, Jeff, is not a certified "Sifu". To them I say: so what? His martial arts experience still probably vastly outweighs your own, so there are things that you can learn from him. In any other martial art, what difference is there in learning from a black belt or a brown belt? The only important factor is that the instructor knows what they are doing and are proficient in their art, which Jeff and the other assisting instructors are.Potential students may also be put off by the lack of sparring in class. This is only a problem for a short while; when the two-person forms and exercises become a part of your routine, it provides just as good of training. Sparring and two-person exercises are really just two sides of the same coin; and the CKFC keeps the exercises fairly surprising in method so that it DOES actually train you for combat situations. The people in the CKFC are very kind and generally entertaining people who seem to care very much for their art and themselves, and are always willing to help newer students who don't know exactly what they are doing. If you could judge a martial arts school based on the morale and spirit of its students and instructors, this place would get a 10/10. Both students and instructors alike seem to have a very deep and inspiring love of martial arts. The classes are fairly cheap, and someone learning both the Tai Chi and Kung Fu that they teach would pay around $100 a month. Specialty classes, such as weapon classes or open-hand classes not specific to the styles taught here cost a bit more, but are always optional, and there is never any pressure from instructors to go into them.I suggest that anyone who wants to see what kung fu is like should come to the CKFC and stay for at least a few months. One might be surprised by the dramatic increase in strength, stamina, skill, and flexibility that they would gain over even that short amount of time.

Roufusport Jiu Jitsu BJJ MMA Mixed Martial Arts Kickboxing Boxing Gym Self Defense Lessons Stress Relief Child Development Center Ages 4+: what do users think?

Mike Koepp: Amazing gym with an amazing atmosphere

Courtney Fredericks: My 10 year old son has trained here for just under a year. He started out new to it all and has quickly gained more confidence and made friends with a ton of kids on the fight team. The coaches are amazing, they truly care about their fighters/students. My 16 year old daughter and I started training with the adults the staff and coaches treat everyone as equals, they expect you to work hard and encourage you to be the best you can be. We are there so much that it is basically our second home and the coaches and staff feel like extended family. It is a great place to help teach kids and adults self discipline, respect and self defense. I would recommend this gym to anyone.

Cameo Perdue: . Don’t expect a father, although they can give fatherly guidance. Don’t expect a movie-like coach experience, although I’ve seen them help people live a movie. It’s really up to you what you make the experience. The fight business ain’t pretty but they prepare you for it. Depending on what you want to achieve, they will provide value in the appropriate manner. But they WILL hold you accountable. Duke is in many ways a principled man, a man’s man, and none of us are perfect but because he strives for excellence, he will demand it from you too. If you are a casual visitor looking to be active and get in shape or learn to defend yourself, this will be a great experience for you. If you are an aspiring fighter, expect to WORK. If you take it easy, things will become hard, but if you go hard, things will become easy. When you choose to become a fighter, you are making a decision to become a stand-alone business, the stakes change. Nothing was ever achieved without adversity, so he will forge you through the fire, don’t expect to know how and don’t expect to be coddled. Just expect to EARN your keep, expect value in elite fight knowledge, character building and wisdom as a cherry on top. If you want to be a master of your mind, a master of your body and a champion, Duke will draw the calculated savage out of you.

Johnny K: .

Amy Reyna: My son has been training here for nearly 3 years and I cannot even begin to put into words how he feels about Roufusport. This is is second home, he loves walking through the doors and learning from the best of the best. This is an atmosphere where you are family, not just a teammate or student but FAMILY. At all times you feel welcome and supported in any journey you are about to take on. Thank you to everyone there that has helped my son become the amazing little man he is today, because of all of you he has so much confidence, support and love anyone could ask for. 💛🖤 Hard work and dedication all day!

Jessica Rodriguez: I've been training Jiu-jitsu on and off for about 4 years and have been a member of multiple gyms as my job has moved me around different states and cities. While each gym has had things I liked, Roufusport is the first gym that has checked all the boxes for me:- Friendly environment- classes 7 days a week- follows a curriculum- people of all sizes and skill levels- great for anyone who wants to compete or just train for fun.I moved to Milwaukee from South Florida last summer without knowing anyone in town. All the Jiu-jitsu coaches have fostered an environment that makes me forget I'm so far from home. I am especially thankful that as a small woman, I have a safe space to train. The coaches also go out of their way to make everyone in class feel important and genuinely take the time to give their attention to all students. Not only are the coaches completely in love with the sport, but it is clear that they are very passionate about passing the knowledge down to anyone who steps on the mat. Roufusport has played a large role in making me feel at home in Milwaukee.

Sadeck Sanon: Great training environment, friendly & professional staff always willing to help.

Debbie Davis: Positive:Professionalism,QualityI love this gym and all of the people in it. Welcoming from day one. You can do anything here- lose weight, get stronger, or be a fighter in the UFC. It’s really an incredible place with a great staff. I highly recommend the boxing classes!

Heather Williams: As an overweight woman who has never done any type of Kickboxing class, I was very intimated the first time I walked in the doors. My 2 young sons and husband did Jujitsu and I did Kickboxing. It very quickly felt like a second home to us. The coaches and staff were always very kind and professional and we all left having a great workout. We are all taking a break from class while the pandemic dies down, but are very excited to get back.I highly recommend the kids Jujitsu classes! My kids thought it was so cool being trained by actual fighters.

Jess Darby: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ValueRoufusport is a great gym with a great vibe. My husband trains there and it’s been a been a game changer for him in so many ways. Any time I’ve stopped in Duke and everyone else have been incredibly welcoming.

Timmy Truong: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueOne of the best of decisions of my life was coming here to train 5 years ago and I’ve been here since. This place has helped me become a better person everyday🙏

Black Belt Leadership Academy: what do users think?

Rachel Waughlen: Truly the best! I wasn’t sure my daughter would be that into karate but it’s so much more than that. They teach control and discipline in such a fun and creative way. The black belts have such enthusiasm about what they do and their interaction with each child. I have no negatives about this place.

Jennifer Apps: Anyone looking for that "thing" for your child, that activity that helps them feel confident, strong, build coordination and athleticism - this is IT! The instructors as all incredible, the curriculum is wholistic, and the experiences build character and leadership!

Linsi Jean: This dojo is special. In addition to learning martial arts, the students learn how to become good leaders and good people.

Sifu Alison: Owned and managed by some of the greatest people. They are truly dedicated to enriching people’s martial arts journey and their lives.

Pittman Family: We love Black Belt Leadership Academy for our little ninja! The team fosters an excellent learning environment with focus on respect and discipline. Truly developing future leaders through their techniques! Highly recommend for anyone looking at starting or continuing their karate journey!

Michael Hemmingsen: This place has a very positive environment with super friendly instructors... yet they still manage to quickly deal with any kids who start to disrupt the classes. My son left because of other activities, but we will surely come back here if he wants to continue karate in the future.

B V3: I’m glad we chose BBLA for our son. Sensei is great. It amazes me that he can remember ALL of the student names. All the staff is nice and it’s a family friendly atmosphere. I really enjoy that you can go to as many classes that are available for your group. Keep Up the Great Work!!

Monica Camacho: Great Sensei and very knowledgeable staff. My son loves his classes and is so proud of each belt he earns. They also teach responsibility and respect. An all around good choice for anyone thinking of having their kids take karate lessons.

Paul Crawford: Amazing teachers and promotion of self-worth, self-discipline, and confidence.

Rubie Mizell: My Kids love it

Normand Kaegler: And obstacle course days. We go at least 2 times a week and he can’t wait to go to everyone of them. Thank y’all for all u do.

Stephen Fennelly: This is truely a 5 star establishment. Do not be misled a couple of uneducated and reckless reviews. My son and I have both been members here for 3 1/2 years and this has been a wonderful experience for both of us. While they focus mostly on karate, we have also had the opportunity to learn weapon skills, grappling and a smattering of other disciplines which is perfect for becomming a well-rounded martial artist in today's MMA focused world. Whether you are here to learn some effective self-defense skills along with a great work-out, or to become a competition caliber martial artist, I highly recommend Black Belt Leadership Academy.

Cindy Hein: Excellent, professional, comprehensive instruction. Mr. Sipin and all of the instructors for the firearms safety training class were extremely well-versed with years of experience to offer me and my family. I highly recommend Training Solutions Firearms Safety and Training Course. 5-stars absolutely!

Stephanie Hein: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI recently took a firearm safety training class at Four Winds and it was fantastic! The training was incredibly informative and the instructors were excellent. I am looking forward to taking additional classes with them and I highly recommend!

Jeff C. Growel: Best place for Martial Arts in Milwaukee. Awesome Instructors and a beautiful facility to train in!

Crispγ: It’s an excellent martial arts school. The instructors have a great deal of knowledge of martial arts and they teach students very well. Easy 5 star review

Mike Doss: Great school! They treat you like family. Lots of activities for children and adults outside of classes like costume parties, movie nights, nerf wars etc.

david beihoff: 24 years of training and inservices as a Deputy Sheriff and I still learn something new every time I take a class with Mr. Sipin. Professionally and expertly presented material makes learning easy and fun for any level of experienced student. Thank you for sharing your expertise. In this day and age you can't be too prepared.

Sean McCormack: This is one of the best martial arts schools I've ever been to. The instructors are top notch and have a wealth of knowledge across all aspects of self defense, grounded in decades of actual application. That's something you'll rarely find in any other school. Many people like to call themselves Masters these days, but Mr. Sipin is one of the few people that truly deserves it.Even better, it's truly a family business. The instructors know each person on an individual level, and do a lot to encourage participation beyond the mat - with everything from wine tasting and charity events to halloween parties and volunteer opportunities. If you want a place that cares about you and can provide you some of the best instruction out there, I couldn't recommend them more.

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Milwaukee: what do users think?

Mark S (Mark): Great place to learn Jiu-jitsu in a fun, team-oriented environment. Sky and the other instructors are great.

Jason Molitor: I can not be happier with my decision to train at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Milwaukee under Skye, Dianne, and Kevin. My daughter and I agree that it has been a great experience. For all you 40 year olds out there know that it isn't too late! The Gracie Combatives is the only way to learn this most efficacious self defense without all the worries and fears that may accompany any new student. The greatest obstacle I had was that I was so out of shape that I couldn't dream of learning how every other school would teach this martial art. The Gracie Combatives program is perfect for out of shape desk workers like me!Many also have injuries over the years that keep them from taking on anything else physically. The way the program is set up it is all about keeping you safe and injury free. This is so different from all other ways of learning Jiu-Jitsu that I wish I knew about this far sooner!I could go on and on. The Gracie Combatives program at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Milwaukee is exactly what I want for my self defense. The BullyProof program for my daughters is amazing as well. Check it out!!!!!!

Kevin Roquemore: Greatest place to train Jiu-Jitsu in Milwaukee. This academy offers both a beginner friendly experience and classes for seasoned grapplers. The Instructors care about their students and they demonstrate and explain each technique in great detail. If you ever wanted to try Jiu-Jitsu look no further than Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Milwaukee.

Tracy Zundel: Excellent environment and supportive staff. Safe training. Valuable for kids and adults alike.

Jessie Habel: As someone who is plagued with an obnoxious amount of anxiety and fear making the leap to start the Women’s Empowered course was a hard one. I didn’t know what to expect and didn’t know if this was something I could even do. But, I am incredibly thankful I gave it a shot because it has already become one of the best decisions I have ever made. Every single person I have met there has been beyond welcoming and I instantly felt like part of the family. While I have only done a handful of classes so far and I already feel more confident and safer out in the world. Now for the instructors: Have you ever had the thought that someone was just meant to be in their profession? They’re just so passionate and good at it that you couldn’t imagine them doing anything else? That’s Skye and Diane. They have this amazing ability to take a topic that could be triggering for some and make it into the safest place you’ve ever been. Class is fun, informative and I walk away each time feeling more confident in myself. If you are reading this review trying to decide if you should try this out- just do it!10/10 recommend

Dylan Bialas: Fantastic instructors and a very welcoming environment. Can’t say enough great things about this place!

Matt Lowe: I love being a member here. They are so welcoming, encouraging, and supportive. I apprciate being apart of the family and look forward to growing further in my BJJ skills and as a person.

Steve: Skye and Dianne make you feel welcome. There’s no shortage of passion coming from the leadership here. I leave every class knowing I was taught by someone who truly cares. On the mat, everyone is kind and willing to help regardless of their skill level. If you’re considering giving this a shot, let this review be the weight that tips the scale.

Dan Hall: Absolutely amazing place! Owner is honest outgoing and very personable. Beginners to advanced are encouraged and welcomed. They have been so open and accommodating for my kids in their bully proof classes. I can't say enough positive things. Strongly recommend them

Andrew Gile: you’re going to love it here

Akash Thakkar: I dropped in for a private lesson while traveling and had an amazing time. Skye is an incredible instructor, and I wish I had more time to train here!

Levi Van Stappen: Skye is as passionate as they come about self defense and empowering people with Jiu-Jitsu. If you are serious about your Jiu-Jitsu development, Gracie Milwaukee is your first and only stop. Thank me later 😁

Chris Roberts: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueAmazing teaching. Cannot recommend enough. The best training experience I have had in Milwaukee! Really great people too.

Lisa Powell: Focus is on technique. Skye has built a great community at the academy!

Travis: Despite coming to this academy with no prior grappling or wrestling experience, Jiu Jitsu/Self-Defense has been so much fun to learn and I recommend it to everyone of all ages. Skye, Kevin, Joe, and all the other instructors have been so welcoming to me, and it's been a pleasure to learn alongside them and the other amazing students at the academy. I would rate this 6 stars if I could! Join this academy today - you'll wish you signed up sooner!

Tara Clark: Love this place and the people! I highly recommend their Women's Self Defense program. ALL women can benefit from this training...regardless of your age, size or fitness level.

Cole Powell: I've gone to this academy for 6 years now and I always have a good time. The people are great. The instructors are unparalleled. And there's just this sense of community you can't get anywhere else

Rhonda Begos-Zolecki: I HIGHLY recommend this place for your child.

Molly Scholl: I have loved being at hongs. I have been. Here going on 16 years. I have been here since I was 3 years old. I would never consider going anywhere else. Our grandmaster hong makes everyone feel welcome the way he always has a smile on his face. You learn so much. You meet so many people and gain so many friends. The people here end up feeling like family. Every one helps eachother with kicks punches and any problems they may have. Hongs taekwondo is such a fantastic place. Your pushed to do your best. You are always improving and no one is judgmental. Everyone has different capabilities. I have seen so many kids like me that started off as shy and lacking confidence end up with so much confidence and really start opening up to people. I can honestly say that Homgs has been so great to me over the years. I love it here so much.

Lorena Alicea: Hongs taekwondo is a great place to learn self defensive and discipline. You get a great workout at the same time of learning new effective ways to ensure your safety and security. It's a place to meet new people and where everyone is friendly. Getting taught by a grand master is amazing. I've learned a lot from being there for more than 2 years. I've strengthened my techniques and skills along the way and taekwondo has made me feel better about myself, healthier and more confident. Hongs taekwondo is the place to be when it comes to wanting to learn self defense and meeting new people.

I have been in the mma community for some time, and I have never experienced the level of respect and opportunity to grow as I have here. From both the coaches the teammates the encouragement to try something new is unmatched. The classes are fast paced, but everyone here is ready and willing to help whether it be someone brand new or someone experienced who is looking to switch up their game. I would recommend Primal to anyone at any level to come experience what they have to offer. You won't regret it.
