Philip Gissen: We bought a 16 pound brisket at Bunzel’s to cook and serve at our Passover seder. After braising in our special gravy for 48 hours, twelve of us sat down and dined on the most tender brisket I ever tasted. Despite the new trendy, social media driven butchers in town, Bunzel’s is still the best.I should say, the 12 of us weren’t braised. I was referring to the brisket.

The deli food is top notch and the Friday fish fry is reasonably priced with generous portions. For those who don't like to cook or need food for parties, get togethers or the holidays they have an extensive catering menu! Complete Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinners can be preordered and accommodate both small and large gatherings. It's worthwhile to sign up for the weekly email specials that are offered every Wednesday and Thursday! They have over 35 different sausages made by their staff to choose from, including the State Champion Honey Mustard brat! It's easy to see why Bunzel's consistently is awarded honors for superior products and service! My number one place to go for top notch meat and customer service!
James Dean: Absolutely excellent fresh meat market. They have a wide variety of frozen products that generally aren’t available other places. They also have sausages, a very small selection of vegetables if you’ve forgotten something from the grocery store, a few isles of regular food-stuff, and a prepared food counter. They will bend over backwards to make you happy. That being said, their prices are very high; you are paying for a premium food experience.

I must say it should be a must if you live or are visiting Milwaukee.With having roots of being a Butcher Shop and having an open kitchen concept, this place hit all the marks.The service was attentive. The menu was plentiful. The pricing was much more than fair. A great wine list to boot.Please get the Steak Tartare. Just....do it.

Maureen Lange: Ok, so we have had Italian sausages from every single "fantastic" deli/shop/store in the area for the last 20 years and Rupenas is the BEST as far as Italian sausages go. Absolutely blows Gloriosos, Ray's, Sendiks, Karl's, and Robert's away. And do not miss their turmeric famous chicken breasts either. So glad we stopped by, it was a staple in the family 25 years ago as our extended family ordered this food often but once Aunt Susie died we never had it anymore. We make the trek from the west side of Waukesha now often but it's ok, we LOVE it!!

Jessica Rodin: Took home the lasagna bolognese. Delicious, my husband and I thought it was the best we have ever had. He wanted to add sauce to it and I said no and we both agreed it was good without doctoring it up. Love their steaks too.

We love the ground bison. It’s lean and super flavorful. We also buy fresh salmon and eggs frequently. The taste of their eggs is also superior to chain-store-bought eggs. I’m not a fan of their fresh sausages for some reason, but it’s probably just a personal preference.The staff is super friendly, prompt, and attentive. They are always prepared to provide thoughtful guidance if you need help deciding what to get. Their prices reflect the quality of their product and service.

Being a lifelong resident of the city of Milwaukee in an area that is underserved by these services it's good to be able to have somewhere to go that's close to home and get that old style "butcher shop" experience. The quality of the meat is top tier, and affordably priced, and the staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. It's no need to say that I feel at home every time I'm there. Wonderful shopping experience.

They do not taste the same.My go to order is usually the pork belly burnt ends, grits and greens. My husband likes the rib tips and the mac and cheese. We are not a fan of their baked beans though. They are a little bitter to me.The combo is really great way to taste a few items from the menu.The housemade drinks are very good. Four cocktails for $40 is a deal. The Pitmaster Punch is my favorite!Update: The drinks are no longer available, issues with plastic jugs.

Kira Hagquist: I got a pineapple cake, a red bean cake, a red bean sesame ball, and half a duck. All of it was great! The filling in the cakes was plentiful and yummy and the sesame ball was just SLIGHTLY crunchy on the outside, just perfect. The duck had to be reheated in the oven but it was fantastic. There was half a duck head in the box, which didn't look too tasty so I did not attempt to eat it LOL.I rendered some of the skin with some onions and froze them. I'm thinking those onions will go inside of a baked good of some sort one day but we'll see.I'll be back!!!!

Michael Krass: Tower chicken farm is the place to go if you want some homemade polish treats. They've been around like forever itseems. I go there for my duck so I can make czarnina, which they also sell. They make their own piorogis in many flavors. Give them a try. You can't go wrong.

Sarah: Honest review- We cannot express how perfect our day was at Birch. Our ceremony was outdoors in the courtyard,-it was so beautiful with the string lights, elegant chiavari chairs, and greenery. Perfect for something more intimate. The interior space is gorgeous on its own and doesn't need much added décor. You are welcomed into the space with a rustic bar, cream city brick, and modern lighting. We were originally discouraged about the McDonald's across the street being visible and the traffic noise. Neither were an issue!! The music drowned out any outside noise and the space was so nice you don't even notice the next door business. Trees and all the bushes cover much of North ave. Besides the setting, the services were wonderful. They worked very well with all the vendors to make it all come together. Ray, was our contact and he was so pleasant and we felt assured working with him. Lori, was on site in the evening and attended to all requests. We loved most that they made it all easy. We also went with sound by design as a package deal. All around excellent. Thank you again to all who made our day perfect.Best,Sarah and Blake

Mark Zalewski: Aside from all the can't miss sausages we've tried, a lot, the pork chops we ate Thursday were "the best I've ever had" said Jane. Nuf said. I brined them for 3.5-4hrs salt/sugar secret seasonings, then pan seared one flip and pulled them off at 140-5. Tented for 3-5min and they were fork tender. The reduction of Port, orange juice, onion, apple and secret seasonings didn't hurt none either. OK I'll give you dried rosemary in reduction too. And some ginger maybe some citrus zest...OK but I'm not saying WHICH citrus...but grapefruit is out...we'll be back soon

Even the chicken burgers are juicy and flavorful. The use of chicken thighs removes that chicken flavor that reminds you that you are eating a chicken burger. This place is a hidden gem, and the owner is super easy to work with and always a pleasure to speak with.
