Braise Restaurant & Culinary School: what do users think?

Morgan S: Stopped in at Braise last night with a friend for the 3-course dinner! You won’t find better ingredients or a better deal. It is truly a one of a kind dining experience and the food is AMAZING—not to mention generously portioned. From start to finish you get a choice between two delicious appetizers, two main course items, and choice between two desserts. This was my second time to Braise and I look forward to coming back. I had the mushroom risotto and highly recommend it. The waitstaff and bartenders are very friendly and add to the overall experience. Perfect for date night with the hubby, or drinks with your girlfriends!

Angela Zuniga: Great service every time we dine in! Perfect date night or even our larger girls nights out are always a hit when we dine at Braise. The waitstaff makes sure we are well taken care of and and is knowledgeable about the food they are serving. They accommodate our many dietary restrictions and the food is always fresh and delicious! Easily the best date night spot in Milwaukee. A must visit.

Liz Fiene: First time having Xiao long bao and I have never had anything like this before! It was my favorite item we tried of the night, would definitely have again if it appeared back on the menu. I love that the ingredients are local and the menu rotates to bring me out of my comfort zone and try new things. Since m still exploring and determining what flavors I like/don’t like, I enjoy that the bartenders can make me something with just some personal input and some questions. I’ve only been here during the winter season but I am looking forward to patio season and I hope they have the patio/rooftop open in addition to their normal seating once summer hits! I just signed up for their tamales cooking class in May and I am looking forward to seeing this side of the restaurant next!

Megan Fiene: I love coming to Braise and eating in the bar area. Their booths and candle lights give a cozy atmosphere and can make a perfect date night. Sit at the bar to enjoy fun conversations and witness Flan and Evan crafting up the amazing cocktails behind the bar. Even if you don’t see a drink on the menu that catches your eyes, they can make anything you are feeling or give them the freedom to surprise you with a “dealers choice” cocktail. I love that the food menu changes every few weeks, one of the many reasons I keep coming back!Vegetarian options: They update their menu often and always mark if the food is vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free n

Ingrid Davis: I absolutely cannot express how AMAZING Braise Restaurant & Culinary School was for our reception. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue. We reserved the upstairs room, including the outdoor space that provided a beautiful view of the city.Becky Ayala, the restaurant manager, was a dream to work with. She was responsive to my emails and detail-oriented, which was so helpful during the reception planning process. The beautifully decorated room dazzled guests the moment they arrived at Braise and established the vibe for the rest of the room’s design. We also loved having the outdoor space, which was perfectly decorated, with floral arrangements placed everywhere. We opted for a family-style dinner. Locally sourced seasonal food inspired the menu of Mixed Green Salad, Lemon Risotto, Montreal Chicken and Soy Braised Beef. The food was delicious and the two wedding cocktails, Crazy Dave’s Old Fashioned and Rhubarb Lemonade were wonderful and flavorful. Our waiter, Kira and David, our bartender, were exceptional and on top of everything. The timing of the dishes was efficiently paced to allow sufficient time in between dishes.Everything was superb, and our guests raved about the venue and the food. I cannot recommend Becky and her team highly enough. You will not regret booking your venue in Braise.

Chrissi Quinn: We had our wedding dinner here and the catering was phenomenal. We booked out the first floor and the split between cocktails in the bar area and dinner in the dining room was a nice little change of setting. The braised beef, pork buns, and chocolate mouse were hits, guests even took leftovers home. The lemon curd wedding cake made by the pastry chefs was great and beautifully but tastefully decorated. I hope we can come back for all our anniversaries.Wheelchair accessibility: My significant other's mom is in an electric wheelchair and it was easy for her to get in and navigate around the first floor.

Beans & Barley: what do users think?

Luke: Good food and service. Dining area isn’t very big, often have to wait for a table. Portions are reasonable for the price, but not huge. Attached market has some hard to find items, but most of what’s there is overpriced. Very good desserts, which are on display in the bakery area. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The parking lot is small, so I recommend parking on the street and walking if you go during peak times. Bathrooms are classy and clean.

On the Bus: what do users think?

Magaly Ordoñez: We stopped by for lunch on Saturday to have some sandwiches and we left satisfied. My partner highly recommends the pesto sandwich. I had the spicy Italian and was a bit overwhelmed w the olive tapenade, but I should say I’m not the biggest fan of olives so I’m biased. The tropical and sweet pink smoothies were refreshing! We also got a side of spicy sesame noodles for the road; delicious but not spicy enough. The folks here are super cool and amazing

Strange Town: what do users think?

Miles Knapp: , the mood was gentle and inviting, and our server/bartender Ben was a delight. They somehow managed to create a full N/A bar menu for the day while simultaneously providing both food and drink with jovial energy and calm, intelligent awareness.

Lauren Elizabeth: I eat here often and when I can, I order almost everything on the menu. I leave stuffed and happy every time. The chocolate cake is delicious and the kombucha on tap is a very refreshing NA beverage to compliment the meal. So glad Milwaukee has a restaurant like this.Vegetarian options: Vegan 100%

Heidi Frenzel: We had a great evening. I wasn't worried about getting a seat because they don't take reservations, but it was no problem at 7:30 on a Friday night. We enjoyed everything but the pumpkin curry was so good that we had to ask if we could order another to take home to our daughter! My husband had martini and I had a interesting but good glass of wine.

Riverwest Co-Op Grocery & Cafe: what do users think?

Sammie Stiehm: Love having this co-op in the neighborhood. I frequent here so much and love supporting them. Their selection is pretty dang good for being such a small shop, and they have reasonably priced local eggs. The grab and go cooler is so convenient, often have fresh baked goods at the counter, a good bulk selection where I can bring my mason jars in and fill them up, and they always have fresh locally roasted coffee for cheap. Missing the cafe but hoping there’s more and more pop up events!Editing to say I’m not sure why that person below me is so pressed about it costing $120 to join the co-op, it’s literally $20 for the year. Maybe for the lifetime benefits but you don’t have to pay that up front. You don’t have to be a member to shop here either.

Nicholas Ruggieri: Every neighborhood needs a Riverwest Co-Op!!! Sad that the cafe is no longer open BUT you can still get a BBQ tofu wrap and other classics in the deli cooler.

Michael Gotsch: Great local spot!

Jill Capicchioni: Amazing store

Patrick Sundlof: Yummy coffee ☕☕☕ thanks!

Sean: Sad to see the cafe closed, hopefully one day it'll be back since the food was delicious. Anyway, the grocery has a pretty good selection for the size, with a decent bulk food section, some hard to find vegan ingredients and interesting local finds. It's on the pricey side for some things, but I like to stop there and support the co-op

Sherry La Rae Thiel: Not a bad place

Stacy La Point: This place keeps getting better - an anchor in the Riverwest neighborhood.

Liz Sevier: Amazing selection of vegan cookies and other dairy alternative products!

Bombay Sweets: what do users think?

Klaudia Bugno: The owner went above and beyond with my order as I was in my last month of pregnancy at the time and also had two kids with me, he told me he will bring my order to the car when its done so I don't have to wait. I very much appreciated it at the time. I recommend eating here also because the food is great and the sweets are tasty. My personal favorites are the samosas and jalebis.

Hajerah Arif: We were wary of visiting because of the low reviews, but ended up having an excellent experience and highly recommend it. We got the vegetarian thali, chana bhatura, samosa chaat, and masala dosa. Everything came quickly and was delicious. The bhatura was especially good, with the perfect texture and not too greasy. The restaurant was clean and inviting. Best of all, the gentleman who served us was kind and hospitable towards our large family with lots of kids. Next time I'm in Milwaukee I'll be stopping by again.

The National Cafe: what do users think?

Cyndi Kramer: Very cool setting, cozy and comfortable. Surprisingly, it was not busy at all for Sunday brunch. We were there around 10:00 and there were empty tables in a small space. No real interaction with staff; you order and pay on the table top app. Staff delivered food and were very friendly for the few seconds we saw them.Lots of vegan options, which is nice for brunch. The non-vegan french toast was dry but the bacon was smoky delicious.

FreshFin Poké: what do users think?

Byron Duran: Love this place! My favorite is the Sweet Avo. This one is the Spicy Tuna, really good, too! The only thing I am disappointed about is the removal of Kimchi from the menu.Vegetarian options: The menu has different options, just don't choose the ones without animal products.Dietary restrictions: The menu has different options, just don't choose the ones with dairy.Kid-friendliness: It's in a building that hosts other stores and offices. Very quiet and clean.

Tom D: Fast and tasty. What else you want!Recommended dishes …

The Chef's Table: what do users think?

Brandy Clay: This place was amazing. Best experience ever!

Janet L_s: Great atmosphere, food was ok.

Chad Covert: Absolutely amazing location, building, food, owner, drink and experience. How did I not know of this place? Its a masterpiece and if you are ever lucky enough to be invited to an event here do not miss it.

Lucy Wilhelms: Chef David and all of his staff are so exceptionally talented. There is no better venue for a beautiful dinner with exceptional service.

T Moy: Parking was easy. If you’re able to find street parking, there is plenty of that surrounding that location. Otherwise, there is a parking lot adjacent to the building. Not only that, I find it special when the chef comes out to show their gratitude and socialize with the guests. Chef David was gregarious and hung out with us as we meandered room to room. You can tell he takes great pride in what he’s created with his incredible team. The stories behind each artifact to why he chose what dishes to make, it kept me entertained for hours.

dann segna: Very entertaining presentation. Super friendly.

Chris: Group tour. The chef is very ambitious as he told us how he bought the building and restored it. He showed us how to use and select knives and cutting board do's and what not to do with it. Demonstration on making a Holiday Raspberry Cranberry Jam. Tour of building and a tasty selection of goodies.

Kelsey Greenwood: We had our rehearsal dinner at Chefs Table and the staff was amazing. The planning process was smooth and enjoyable. The staff went above and beyond to bring our vision to life. From the walk through to see the space, to the special sit down with the Chef to curate a meal based on our food preferences we loved our experience. We highly recommend renting out the lower level for your guests to explore even more and get a richer experience with the unique touches the Chef put into that building!Chef David we felt the love made in our food especially the Beef Bourguignon and hope so many more guests get to experience the same.

clark blachly: Went there for retirement party Friday and everything first class. Chef even gave us a private tour of the unique rooms in this building. Highly recommended!!

Betty Brewster: This venue will always hold a special place in my heart! My son's wedding was held here . Amazing food, attention to detail, everyone was so comfortable. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Louis Santini: Incredible experience and will definitely be back! If you love great food, drink, and history this is the place for you. The owner is one of the best hosts I’ve seen and truly has a passion for his restaurant!
