UWM School of Continuing Education: what do users think?

Anne Siegel: Osher rocks! In preparation for teaching a Zoom class to elementary school children in French, I contacted one of the Osher members and received some specialized tools for moving forward with my project. Her 'tips' helped me lead the virtual class with a minimal amount of missteps. I gained a lot of confidence after working individually with Laurie, as well as attending her regular Zoom tutorials for all Osher members. Love the variety of programs, too!

Gwen Benner: Osher at UWM has provided a plethora of stimulating programs for lifelong learners in a community of fellow students who have become colleagues and good friends.

Priscilla Camilli: I have enjoyed many Osher courses. I especially have gained insightsfrom Paula Friedman''s book discussions and Kathy Johnson's film analyses and other courses. I have also been happy to teach classes on art history.Osher makes retirement fulfilling!

Sue Burwell: There is such a wonderful variety of courses offered, and a great way to spend time learning, especially when we can't be together in -person.

Marvin Wiener: The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UWM is an adult learning extension of UW Milwaukee that has brought learning experiences to many intellectually curious senior citizens in the greater Milwaukee area. It differentiates itself from other adult learning activities by the breadth of topics, the active participation in the organization by over 100 volunteers, the caliber of the presenters, and the continued pursuit of excellence through surveys of members and evaluation of the classes offered. The high caliber of the organization is reflected in its rapid adoption of virtual teaching made necessary by the COVID pandemic. The Institute didn't miss a beat in moving to a virtual platform. It has the technical expertise and member dedication to pull that off almost seamlessly. I'm proud to be a member of an organization that recognize me as an individual and values my input and membership.

Chris Schlosser: The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is a great way to continue to learn new and interesting things - as well as meet other people. They have done a great job of shifting to all online classes during the pandemic. These classes have been a great way to stay in touch and learn while safer at home.

Cindy Harvey: OSHER Classes have kept me sane during the pandemic!Always something to look forward to. Thank you!

Julie I: For me, one of the best parts of retiring was finally getting to start attending classes with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UWM, otherwise known to the members of our chapter as Osher. I've enjoyed getting together with others for lectures and classes about literature, history, science, and more. Even now, when our meetings are via Zoom, the learning and sharing continues. But I'll admit, I'm looking forward to the day that we can meet, travel, eat, and learn together in person again.

Geri Halaska: Osher has been a life saver for me. I've enjoyed the many classes that I signed up for and have met many interesting people and made more friends. Can't wait for things to return to "normal".

Kathy O: Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UWM is OUSTANDING! It offers classes on History, Literature, Art, and even current events. Zoom classes have been offered since the Pandemic arrived along with many other class options. Osher even offers tech classes to learn how to Zoom with a Tech Support Team to offer personalized assistance. You won't regret your decision to become a member!

Tim Peterson: I have learned so much from this place, nothing else like it in SE Wisconsin!!!

Luther Willems: Great facility and staff to help working adults improve their skills! I've enjoyed the classes I have taken here.

Futen Dojo: what do users think?

Freyja Newleaf: If you're looking for a safe place to strengthen your mind, to bolster your capabilities in defending yourself, to find peace within your soul, look no further. Sensei is an absolutely stunning human with a vast wealth of knowledge in martial arts. With dedication and patience, you too can dig deep and realize your true potential.

Joe Lewis: True Japanese Martial Arts

Michael Anderson: Whether you are interested in learning self-defense, traditional Japanese martial arts and culture, a philosophy of continual self-improvement, or a hobby which could easily keep you engaged for the rest of your life, Futen Dojo should be on your list to check out. The head instructor Michael Coleman is a world-class martial artist who is passionate about teaching.

Tonia Stavedahl: Learning how to defend myself has given me a lot of peace of mind when I am out and about. I feel more aware of my surroundings and know that at least I have seen and learned techniques that will help me in the unthinkable event of an assault. This is something I had never thought about and am so thankful to have a teacher and dojo family supporting me and my personal safety. I highly recommend checking out the Futen Dojo.

Scott Baxter: Do you want to learn self-defense? Do you enjoy traditional Japanese culture? Are you looking for a teacher that respects and understands your needs? This is the place to go.

Amy Ressel: While I was in the military I had to move a lot so I changed dojos a lot. Futen is one of the best dojos I've studied at. Everyone is really kind and no one will look down on you if you are having a difficult time learning a technique.

Michael Wogoman: I found the Futen Dojo by chance while driving by and thought I would stop in. Michael Coleman, the schools head instructor, was teaching an advanced class and I was immediately impressed with not only his skill physically, but also his knowledge of the history and ‘way’ of martial arts. I signed up for class the next day. That chance encounter was nearly nine years ago and I have been going to the Futen Dojo every week since then. In that time I have had experiences that, I believe, cannot be offered anywhere else. Even with years of experience, I learn something new in every class, which will always have me coming back for more. I am very glad to be a part of the Futen Dojo family.

Black Belt Leadership Academy: what do users think?

Rachel Waughlen: Truly the best! I wasn’t sure my daughter would be that into karate but it’s so much more than that. They teach control and discipline in such a fun and creative way. The black belts have such enthusiasm about what they do and their interaction with each child. I have no negatives about this place.

Jennifer Apps: Anyone looking for that "thing" for your child, that activity that helps them feel confident, strong, build coordination and athleticism - this is IT! The instructors as all incredible, the curriculum is wholistic, and the experiences build character and leadership!

Linsi Jean: This dojo is special. In addition to learning martial arts, the students learn how to become good leaders and good people.

Sifu Alison: Owned and managed by some of the greatest people. They are truly dedicated to enriching people’s martial arts journey and their lives.

Pittman Family: We love Black Belt Leadership Academy for our little ninja! The team fosters an excellent learning environment with focus on respect and discipline. Truly developing future leaders through their techniques! Highly recommend for anyone looking at starting or continuing their karate journey!

Michael Hemmingsen: This place has a very positive environment with super friendly instructors... yet they still manage to quickly deal with any kids who start to disrupt the classes. My son left because of other activities, but we will surely come back here if he wants to continue karate in the future.

B V3: I’m glad we chose BBLA for our son. Sensei is great. It amazes me that he can remember ALL of the student names. All the staff is nice and it’s a family friendly atmosphere. I really enjoy that you can go to as many classes that are available for your group. Keep Up the Great Work!!

Monica Camacho: Great Sensei and very knowledgeable staff. My son loves his classes and is so proud of each belt he earns. They also teach responsibility and respect. An all around good choice for anyone thinking of having their kids take karate lessons.

Paul Crawford: Amazing teachers and promotion of self-worth, self-discipline, and confidence.

A&B W: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value

Rubie Mizell: My Kids love it

Normand Kaegler: And obstacle course days. We go at least 2 times a week and he can’t wait to go to everyone of them. Thank y’all for all u do.

Stephen Fennelly: This is truely a 5 star establishment. Do not be misled a couple of uneducated and reckless reviews. My son and I have both been members here for 3 1/2 years and this has been a wonderful experience for both of us. While they focus mostly on karate, we have also had the opportunity to learn weapon skills, grappling and a smattering of other disciplines which is perfect for becomming a well-rounded martial artist in today's MMA focused world. Whether you are here to learn some effective self-defense skills along with a great work-out, or to become a competition caliber martial artist, I highly recommend Black Belt Leadership Academy.

Hungry Sumo: what do users think?

Kim Galvez: Amazing food. Best ramen I've had in a long time. They're sushi is incredible as well. Great atmosphere and service. I come here every time I'm in Milwaukee.Vegetarian options: There were many options for veggies or to turn into veggies and veganDietary restrictions: They are friendly and ask if there are restrictions

Joe Mayer: Sushi and service was great. Menu has a wide variety. Only negative was that we had to wait 1/2 hr and there really isn’t a good place to stand inside on a cold night. Warm nights it would be no problem to just stand outside. Dining room is very informal and has been crowded/loud all three times we’ve been here. We don’t live near here but will definitely come back.

Ray Juaire: A true hidden gem in Bay View, about 8 minutes south of the historic Third Ward District, downtown Milwaukee. We tried their version of crab Rangoon, it was great. We had one pork Ramen dish and a teriyaki tofu dish. The Ramen was the best I've had. The teriyaki was perfect, not to saucy or sweet. Service was great, food came out fast. We went there on a Wednesday at 5 and it was packed. That tells you locals dig it!

Thai-namite on BRADY St.: what do users think?

Cyndi Kramer: Another first for me, I don't know what I was waiting for....it was yummy. This was lunch with a friend on her recommendation. The food was delicious, the server was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere was basic but clean. We had little veggie dumplings to start and they were a good omen about what was to come. One dish was a sort of sticky glazed chicken with cashews that I practically finished by licking the plate. The other was a forgettable black garlic chicken dish was bland and unexciting. Not bad, just not interesting.

Benjamin Polony: Some of the best Pad Thai you will get in Milwaukee.

Alina LeMacher: Service was great, very friendly & attentive staff. We ordered 2 sushi rolls and they were plated beautifully but lacked a tad in flavor. I did however order a drink off the menu- the bangkok mule, and it was hands down one of the BEST drinks I've had in awhile! Would definitely go back and try again maybe just a different roll next time.

Katherine B: This was my favorite restaurant in Milwaukee when I lived there. If it weren't so far, I would go back there now. The food was perfect.

Easy Tyger: what do users think?

B Maza: Easy Tyger, a cozy ramen spot on Brady Street, promises a flavorful experience through Japan's iconic dish—quite possibly the best to be found in Milwaukee. The tonkatsu ramen was flavorful with its perfectly textured noodles, soft-boiled egg, and tender pork belly. But a tad more attention to the broth could elevate the experience by adding more robust flavors expected in a classic ramen bowl. Additionally, the abundance of seaweed may overwhelm some palates. Despite this, Easy Tyger's warm atmosphere and authentic flavors make it a destination worth revisiting for a ramen rendezvous in this vibrant and eclectic neighborhood.

Carrie Ann Cramsey: Sometimes I wake up dreaming about beefy boy ramen
