4worldlovers: The Camp story began over 20 years ago when Paul Hackbarth started Sound by Design. In 2012, Paul purchased 4044 N Oakland to house his growing DJ company, the building offered two storefronts and ample parking, which is exactly what Sound by Design needed. At the time of purchase, Paul was unsure of what to do with that newly vacant second storefront. During a conversation with village officials, Paul was asked what he thought Shorewood needed. Paul candidly answered that the city lacked any nightlife and needed a great local bar.

That same week Paul and his wife Natalia closed on their cabins up north. During their five hour drive, Paul mentioned the conversation he had with the village. He knew that he wanted to open a quaint neighborhood bar, that would be a great place for the community to gather. It was not until they walked into their cabin, lit a fire, sat down to enjoy a celebratory beer that Paul realized the theme for Camp. He told Natalia, “Let’s build a bar that looks like this cabin and represents what up north means to us”.

Once upon a time, the Drink Wisconsinbly Pub was located in the Milwaukee neighborhood called Walker’s Point. When we lived there, our kitchen was well-known for the best fried cheese curds in the city.

In 2019, we packed up our brandy, beer, and bubbler (amongst other booze and things) and headed north to our current location in the Deer District. We are honored to be the corner bar across from Fiserv Forum.

The Drink Wisconsinbly Pub does not have a kitchen. We do offer Ellsworth cheese curds as well as a selection of other tasty and locally made salty snacks. Ask your friendly bartender what is available. We also love what our neighbors have to offer, so feel free to bring in any food you like.

Want the best seat in the house? We do not take formal reservations; seating is first come, first served, but if you would like to plan your next party at our house, fill out the form at the bottom of this page and we will hold the seat for you.

We love your 4-legged friends, and they are welcome to hang out on our patio. We have plenty of water bowls to keep them hydrated while you keep yourself hydrated. Just ask your friendly bartender for a bowl.
