It's worth a stop...even if you just want to look at well-groomed men working behind the bar... You'll have a great time. You will find a conversation. The atmosphere is inviting and I intentionally ordered a fussy drink to confirm they care about their output... they do. They consistently do. Anthony Jones: This bar at North Ave Market knows what they are doing. If you are fortunate enough to get Anthony as a bartender, you will surely leave happy. He is literally an encyclopedia of cocktails….what goes together, what flavors work well, what specific alcohols should be shaken at room temp versus on ice. My husband and I appreciate all of the above and more. His brief lessons based on my questions were like being in a drink making class. Overall, the drinks are phenomenal and the staff, including owners, go above and beyond to make you feel like a friend and not just a patron. Please visit! They are THEE best!

Benjamin McNeil: around and looking at the details. We ordered small plates as appetizers, and they were fantastic and arrived quickly. The large plates took a fair bit longer to arrive, but all of us cleaned our plates. Seriously, my tiny sister actually scraped her plate clean with her fork and knife. Overall, this was a very nice experience. Prices for food were pretty high, though cocktail prices were a good deal.Vegetarian options: Butternut squash small plate was insanely delicious

Maia H: This is a small cocktail bar, so don't be surprised if you don't get a seat on the weekends, especially during happy hour! Happy hour is 4-6pm and it's half off their specialty house cocktails or draft beer. Our group liked the Wisconsin old fashioned and the negroni spritz the best. The bartender did a good job by herself when it was extremely busy. My only complaint is the music was too loud, we could barely hear each other talk.

The bar kept up with the demand really well. I ordered food and drinks to try. Everything came out very fast.The espresso martini was my favorite.The oaxacan campfire was up there for me too.I didnt like the sangria.The empanadas were good, the bacon wrapped chesnuts were great and were great the next day after some airfryer action. The deviled eggs were good in the moment.My service was fantastic. Again they were BUSY. This is a great place...be sure to keep it in your rotation... whether its dinner, drinks, or just some hang time.
Suzie Kane: We've been wanting to go here for awhile now. Love the atmosphere, the chandeliers are very pretty. The noise level was fine, we could have a conversation without shouting. This is more of a cocktail bar with heavy snacks. The Brandy old fashioned was spot on. We tried 3 different wings. The buffalo were pretty traditional good flavor not overly spicy. The BBQ bourbon had great flavor not spicy at all. Our favorite was gunpowder it has a little more heat and is a dry rub. The mozzarella sticks were huge and tasty, wrapped in wonton wrappers with a little boost of basil flavor the marinara was great for dipping. The fries were really good too. The service was good even though it looked like there was just one server. It was a busy night in the Village because of the Christmas market. We will definitely be back!!

Been here so many times, food wise they just have a few simple apps like a giant pretzel, or a cheese platter which are all fine, tgey dont have a full menu butnypu can vring food if you want. A friend and I shared two small plates plus dessert and we were full. The brussel sprouts were fantastic, and the sauce with the pan seared snapper was so flavorful. The desserts also did not disappoint. The chocolate torte and the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake were both delicious. I will definitely be back for the wine and the food. 5 stars!
Brandon: Dined on a Sunday night at Balzac after recommendations from a couple of friends. The menu is constructed around shareable small plates, though there are some bigger entrees. There is plenty of wine to choose from though we didn't order any.We were seated quickly. It looked like there were only two servers for the dining room so I won't hold service against them on this visit. For as many tables as the servers worked, they stopped by plenty of times and were very pleasant. Depending where you sit, tables can be a bit too small and cluttered for sharing small plates.We did our best to share a couple of plates and also ordered cheeseburgers. We shared Peach Caprese and Sac Mac. Peach Caprese took full advantage of Peach season and kept this side simple and clean. I was a fan. The Sac Mac was well sauced and well balanced. Another win. The burger was delicious and straightforward; not an overwhelming amount of toppings. The french fries tasted exactly like McDonald's fries. Unsure if this is intentional. I would've preferred a thicker, twice fried french fry but their fries were not bad whatsoever.Overall, the prices at Balzac are reasonable and the portions fall in line with those prices. The food is prepared simply; they allow seasonal ingredients to shine. Execution was fine. I wasn't blown away by anything I ate, but nothing I had was bad. Balzac strikes me as a simple, reasonable and consistent local restaurant. I left satisfied and my wallet was happy with me. All wins in my book!
